Zach Davis, author of 'Appalachian Trials' recently sat down with me for an interview about his new book, written after successfully thru-hiking the AT with no prior backpacking experience. I'm thankful to Zach for making the time to do this and share his experience with all of us.
There are an enormous number of great books available about preparing for the AT. They outline what gear to take and how to plan your route, but this is the only book, that I've read, that addresses and prepares you for the psychological and emotional challenges you will be confronted with during a half year backpacking trip. We needed this book to be written.
Zach has very kindly sent me a signed copy of his book to give away to one lucky reader of Brian's Backpacking Blog. So you each have a change to get a free copy (in shiny, bright yellow) signed by the author! He's even provided you with a list of reasons why you should read this book..
All great reasons and I'd have to agree with #10 completely! This is a book that will stick out on your bookshelf.
How to Win
The last few giveaways I've done were simple enough to enter (I thought), but required a lot of after the fact collation on my part. So I'm going to make this a little easier on myself and hopefully for all of you.
